Nursing Options for someone who already has a bachelor’s degree?

bfell23 asked:

I have a bachelor’s degree, but would like to pursue a nursing career. I have found that there are accelerated nursing programs but the pre requisites would be a step backwards in order to gain acceptance in the program. I have also seen that there are online nursing programs. Are these any good? My goal is to get a bachelor’s degree in nursing and become a registered nurse. What would be the most efficient way to complete this goal?

I’m sorry, but nursing programs are very particular and you will have to follow their guidelines. They are also very competitive, so your best bet is to do whatever they say. You will most likely not have to worry about electives outside the major, but you will need all thier prequisities. You may have to take a lot of if you weren’t a science major. It will take time, but if you are serious about becoming a nurse it will be worth it. Try shadowing an RN to get an idea of what the job is if you are unsure. You can also look at the Occupational Outlook Handbook’s pagge on RNs for lots of valuble information: .

BE VERY CAUTIOUS ABOUT ONLINE NURSING COURSES. Nursing involves a lot of lab sciences and hands on nursing classes and clinicals. You may be able to take some classes online, but don’t go for anything that lets you take your important classes online. If they don’t require any time in the field, walk away!!!
