Can you recieve a master’s degree in nursing without having your Bachelors degree in nursing??? I heard you can get your bachelors degree in another major such as education etc.. and then get your master’s degree in nursing, you just wont have your masters of science in nursing. and if this is true, what can you do with a MN?

    You must have a Bachelors in Nursing to get a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN). Depending on which Masters program you are interested in they may also be a requirement with regards to work experience in a certain Nursing Specialty. I know the Masters in Nurse Anesthesia requires at lest 2 years of critical care experience before you can apply.

    I think what is confusing is that many nursing instructors get their Masters in Education or even a PhD in Educations and then go into teaching.

    A Nurse Practitioner is a MSN level nurse. Depending on your states regulations a Nurse Practitioner has the power to write prescription and diagnosis and works more independent of a doctor.
